Broughton Nicotine Services is a Contract Research Organisation providing analytical, scientific and regulatory support to businesses in the e-cigarette sector, enabling them to increase the value of their business and advance a smoke-free future. 

Our Toxicology team support our clients with their pursuit of regulatory compliance.

This role will be either home based with willingness to travel when required or can be based within our new facility in Earby, on the border of Lancashire and North Yorkshire.

Main Purpose of Job

The Toxicologist will lead and manage the in vitro study design, CRO management, interpretation of results, and integration of results into a summary regarding the appropriateness for protection of public health

You will adhere to protocols for preparing toxicology profiles of chemicals, ensuring that these protocols are followed by Associate Toxicologists. Conducting toxicological analyses using computational (Q) SAR modelling programs and provide expert judgement for results.

As part of line management requirements within this role you may oversee Associate Toxicologists to conduct risk assessments, ensure protocols are followed and also provide oversight and senior review of all deliverables, including toxicology profiles, computational toxicology results, and risk assessments. You will understand concepts of Cramer classification and thresholds of toxicological concern (TTC).

Key Person Specification

  • Degree in Toxicology or related field (essential)
  • PhD in Toxicology (desirable)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in applied toxicology and risk assessment
  • Experience with computational modelling software: OECD Toolbox, ToxTree and Lhasa
  • Proven ability in technical writing and communications.
  • Proven self-learner.
  • Can demonstrate business / commercial acumen. 
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Can demonstrate drive and motivation.
