Our Toxicology team supports our clients with their pursuit of regulatory compliance.

Main Purpose of Job

As the Head of Toxicology, you will be responsible for managing and leading the nonclinical activities necessary for a Premarket Tobacco Product Application (PMTA) or Medicinal Product submission.

You will ensure resources are available for execution of nonclinical activities and studies.

The Head of Toxicology ensures that accurate plans are created for the toxicology work streams to follow in order to be successful in client regulatory submissions. You will understand and communicate necessary staffing changes, including scaling up staff when full staff utilization is reached.

Within the role of Head of Toxicology, you will have a background in Toxicology and strong people management skills and be able to plan complex regulatory toxicology studies.

This will include overseeing Toxicology team members, including the in vitro toxicology and risk assessment teams, along with ensuring staff development and training.

Key Person Specification

  • Degree in toxicology or related field (essential)
  • PhD in toxicology (desirable)
  • Registered toxicologist (ERS or DABT)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in applied toxicology and risk assessment
  • Experienced in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Be knowledgeable with and have experience with FDA CTP recommendations for in vitro studies for PMTA submissions.
  • Be knowledgeable with OECD study design.
  • Experience with computational modelling software: OECD Toolbox, ToxTree and Lhasa
  • Proven ability in technical writing and communications.
  • Experience with in vitro/in vivo extrapolation (IVIVE)
  • Experience with physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models, including absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of any given chemical
  • Experienced in cell culture technologies
  • Proven self-learner.
